Executive Chairman

Michael Gorzynski is the Executive Chairman of Continental General Insurance Company (CGIC). Under Mr. Gorzynski’s leadership since 2020, CGIC has grown its diversified portfolio in assets, employing a strategic investment approach with an extended time horizon. As Chairman, he has driven the launch of CGIC’s dedicated Third-Party Administrator (TPA) Solutions offering and the significant expansion of its life and long-term care portfolio through a number of strategic transactions.

Mr. Gorzynski also serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Alpha Metallurgical Resources, Inc. (NYSE: AMR), which he joined in January 2023. Mr. Gorzynski has two decades of experience operating across the capital markets, investment management sector and insurance industry. Previously, Mr. Gorzynski invested in special situations globally at Third Point LLC. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston and at Spectrum Equity Investors.

Mr. Gorzynski serves on the Board of the St. Bernard’s School of New York, the Harvard Business School Alumni Board, the Economic Leadership Council of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Gorzynski earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
